PAST PROJECTS
This project involved collaboration with the Maquoketa River Watershed Management Authority, local and regional governments as well as the residents across nine counties in eastern Iowa to create the first-ever Watershed Management Plan to address water-related issues such as water quality and flood mitigation. This plan serves as a guidebook and vision for the future for the member cities, counties, and soil & water conservation districts, offering a long-range perspective and ways to improve water quality and mitigate flooding throughout the watershed. The Inclusive Economic Development Plan is an attempt to research and identify the economic development barriers and opportunities in the path of underestimated communities (predominantly the minority small business owners) in Johnson County, Iowa, and to give voice to their needs and recommend community-driven solutions.
Using Scenario Planning, this study aims to analyze and compare how two different development scenarios would shape the future pattern, and impact the growth direction of the City of Tiffin, and provides recommendations on the best course of action. The analysis is performed using Urban Footprint, a software that assists in developing the city’s Future Land Use Map as part of the two proposed planning scenarios: the 2040 Current Comprehensive Plan and the 2040 Compact.
The current report examines the feasibility of building a new transitional housing facility having in account the evolving patterns of homelessness in Clinton, as well as the financial position of the Victory Center considering that it does not receive any federal or state funding to carry its services. Firstly, it provides an estimate of the homeless population projection for the next five years; secondly, it analyzes the trends of the homeless population in Clinton; and thirdly, explains the need for a new transitional facility in accordance with the trends observed. Last but not least, this report identifies sources of funding that can support the Victory Center’s plan to build a new transitional housing facility.
